Insurance

Dental insurance is a valuable employee benefit to reduce your out of pocket expenses.

Please note that no insurance plan is intended to cover all dental expenses. It is a benefit provided by your employer to defray the cost of treatment.

The important features of your policy that you need to be aware of are:

  • (1) The annual maximum - the total amount that the insurance company will pay over a twelve month period.
  • (2)The policy date - not all policies are on a calendar year (January 1st to December 31st). Many are on a fiscal year(ex, July 1st to June 30th).
  • (3) Your deductible - the amount that will be deducted from your annual maximum before any benefits are paid out.
  • (4) The percentage of payment - There will often be different levels of coverage for Preventative, Basic, and Major. The remaining percentage is your co-payment. Please also note that the % stated in your policy is not necessarily the % of the actual dental fee. The insurance company is free to set whatever level they want, and then pay out the stated % of that amount. Basically, the more your employer paid for the plan, the better the level of coverage.
  • (5) The waiting period - the number of months of employment required before benefits begin.

we will do everything we can to help you get at least an estimate of what your insurance may pay. Please be aware that we can in no way guarantee what they will pay. this is a contract between your employer and the insurance carrier.

If you wish, a written predetermination of benefits can be obtained from your insurance company. This generally takes 4-6 weeks. Again, this is still an estimate from your insurance company, not a guarantee of what they will actually pay.

It is also advisable that you investigate the extent of your coverage through a phone call to your insurance company or the Human Resource/Personnel office of your employer.

  • Please also let us know whenever there is a change in your coverage.
  • Please bring your insurance card with you for any appointment.
